Adobe Photoshop CS6 Beta

Adobe has released a new beta for its wildly popular image editing software, Photoshop. This particular version, CS6 (Creative Suite 6), includes many new features such as a new UI, new and re-engineered tools, and content-aware patching. It's available for download, for free, now. Links will be at the end.

There's a whole slew of new features, which can be viewed here (.pdf), but here are a few:

General:

  • UI Consistency
  • Lighting Effects Gallery
  • File Import Image from Device now includes ImageKit scanning and camera acquisition support
  • Rich Cursor information throughout the app (i.e. Crop, Transform, Move, Vectors, etc.
GPU/Performance:
  • GPU Warp Transform
  • GPU Liquify—Button for last Liquify used and Cmd + F work
  • Lighting Effects and Blur Gallerie 
  • Adaptive Wide Angle
Photographers:
  • Blur Gallery (Tilt-Shift, Iris and Field Blur)and highlight/shadow controls
  • ACR 7—Local controls for White Balance and Noise Reduction, new black/white
  • Intelligent Auto-Correction 
  • Face-Aware Mask Generation—Change to Color Range

Again, those are just a few of the new features. So now that you're all psyched up, you no doubt want to get your hands dirty and play around with it, right? Well, thanks to it being a beta, it's free so all you have to do is download and install it. If it asks for a key, just say you want to try it for a while.
