Probably the most highly anticipated game being released this year, Diablo III has finally been given a release date. The game will be "unleashed from the burning Hells" on May 15. If you're a World of Warcraft player you might want to look into their Annual Pass offering. What that is is an agreement that you will continue paying for WoW for one year. If you agree to that, you will receive a free copy of Diablo III (you will be able to play as early as as you would if you would buy the game regularly) as well as a WoW mount and access to the Mists of Pandaria beta.
Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment, said, "After many years of hard work by our development team and months of beta testing by hundreds of thousands of dedicated players around the world, we’re now in the homestretch. We look forward to putting the final polish on Diablo III over the next two months and delivering the ultimate action-RPG experience to gamers worldwide starting on May 15."
A collector's edition of the game, which will be $99.99 instead of $59.99, will be released and available at retail stores. Included with the collector's edition are: a special alabaster-white box for the game, the full game on DVD-ROM, a behind-the-scenes Blu-ray/DVD two-disc set, the Diablo III soundtrack CD, a 208-page Art of Diablo III book, and a 4 GB USB soulstone (including full versions of Diablo II and Diablo II: Lord of Destruction®) and corresponding Diablo skull base, and exclusive in-game content for Diablo III, World of Warcraft®, and StarCraft® II: Wings of Liberty®.
