About a month ago the FBI raided the home of Kim Dotcom, the famed founder of MegaUpload, and arrested him on charges of copyright piracy, money laundering, and racketeering. While prosecutors tried and tried to not let him be released on bail, they failed to show a valid way that he had any way to escape. He was put under basically house arrest at a house near his mansion in New Zealand, but at least he was able to be with his (pregnant) wife and three kids. He and other founders still face extradition to the United States in the upcoming months for their trial. The big problem with releasing him on bail was that they were worried he could try to flee the country, even though they froze every asset they knew about. Apparently he has banks accounts and passports in three different names, and they were worried he has more hidden away somewhere. But, as the prosecution failed to show evidence of anything they missed, he was released on bail. The amount the bail was set to I could not find, however. You can read more about his release and the struggles he faced and will face here
