I don't know how much modding you guys do here but I'd like to see a section where you can get opinions and suggestions on mods.

mmm. i'll think about that. dont want to open a section and no one goes in there. go to system pics first or something and open up a thread

This thread was replied to before the rollback. Use system pictures forum regarding modding. If we have many more dedicated modders who always start new projects, we'll make a new forum.

i got an idea. may be you should exchange banners. TBCS will have InsaneTek banner and InsaneTek will have TBCS

Banners take up precious page space. I don't think one is necessary for an affiliation.

This might be considered thread necromancy, but I 'd like to see more ideas and such. I have several backburner projects- 1 is furniture-grade wood-based case, another is a Cube style open frame WC project. Time right now has not been kind- every chance I really get to sit down and do some work some calamity comes up. I'm the poor sap with 'every tool known to man' so all my 'friends' come over when they need something cut, welded, repaired, reassembled, or fixed in some way shape or form... from cars to bicycles and PCs to friggin' surfboards.

Anyway, if anybody needs advice cutting or shaping something, holler. Best tool for adding a window: If ya got an air com[pressor, an air nibbler can make a typical window opening in about 30 seconds. No filing required; edges will not be sharp, and it won't disort the metal. Air shears suck, a dremel moves to slow (air dremels are great for detail work though) Using a hand nibbler takes about 5 notches to realize there's gotta be a better way. I also recommend driving out on trash-night and finding discarded cases/systems, whether AT, ATX or whatever, even old Dell and Compaq work nice. Why? Full of extra screws and quite often standoffs. Not to mention all the extra optic/hard-drive mounting points. I've actually ended up with close to 6 gig of pc133 ram over the last 3 years taking throwaway systems from trash. Many had bad fans in the power supply (easy fix) or bad CMOS battereis, or perhaps a failed and incredibly dusty hsf. Either way, its a good way to come up with a test-bed for cooling/airflow design and shaping, testing out different configs for mounting stuff in actual operational systems, or maybe just bulding a file server or perhaps CCTV-style system for security purposes (I did this for my father) and setting it up for discreet observation without the typical Beige Box.

With all the good minds present, I kinda expected to see more stuff here :(

Thats a good idea. I gotta go look for old systems on trash day. thanks
