you know how the ic7-max3 has the vtt problem when going above 2.8v vdimm...and then u'd have to vmod the board to fix that problem...do the ic7 and ic7-g have the same problems?...if i use the booster in the board...will i have vtt problems?

i know i can just check myself when i get back...but i'd like to know beforehand so i dont waste time figuring stuff out

don't think so no

haha i found out. all abit p4 boards other than the ai7 have vtt tracing problems. in order to use the booster, all those boards the is7 series, ic7 series, need mods to be done

Hipro5 is working on a "DDR Maximizer" that solves the vtt issue and has more features than the OCZ Booster.

eh? whos Hipro5?

Tech

You don't know who Hipro is? He is the one who made that huge guide IC7 All-in-One mod guide.

nope. haha. so hes gonna make a ddr booster himself? i wonder what company is going to buy it off him

too lazy to read through the whole thing. is he selling it himself or is a company gonna buy it from him?

Hipro5 is the guy who got 400FSB on his crazy modded IC7 which is shown in the IC7 all in one mod guide.

Ive talked to a guy who has a 3.4EE @ 4600MHz on a IC7 Max3 and he hasnt done the VTT trace mod, Im going to pick up a Max3 if I can find one @ a good price or it will be the IC7-G, any major difference between the two boards on overclocking potential / ability ?

poiuy223
08-17-2004, 11:04 AM
the ic7max3 has vdimm up to 3.2v, but vtt limits it to 2.8v. so technically not much different other than the otes. but still, go for the max3. its made to overclock

how in the fock? 400fsb? is it just a screenie?

Bennah
08-17-2004, 11:19 AM
Yea I think it was just a screenie but who cares, 400FSB :slobber:

He is going to sell it for himself for now I think.

Them ES are damn strange...

Look at this...

5600MHz ? And 1MB L3 Cache?

That guide is totally awesome, hes put his life into that guide, he did a great job.

No, poo its not a photochop. ES are not retail chips, the one that macci had that shows 5600MHz 1MB L3 Cache had a totally blank IHS. Its a 'special' chip, one of a kind I think ;)

or something that intel engineers focked up on

Bennah

Yea probably, lol hence why they gave it out as a sample

Dude...that guide was f0cking awesome  However if that is what it takes to get performance (cutting is NEEDED) then maybe the mobo ain't that great

ES are crazy chips. They aren't just the **** that Intel f0cked up on. I wish I had an ES...then again I really wouldn't have much use for it. Not crazy enough to torture the **** out of a chip like that

Bennah

I think we all want a P4 ES cpu. They are only given out to select people. Damn I wish they would just sell the EE's as EE ES's, that would be great.

About that guide, thats to get a very extreme modded board and go for very high goals like 400FSB, not many people would be trying out all of them mods and going for things like 400FSB...

Cutting is needed to get good vdimm...thus I say the board sucks. Then again recent BIOS updates for the Epox reduced my vdimm to 2.9v max. I have to run the first BIOS version to get back 3.3v. Why don't companies just put all the features we want into their mobos?

Bennah
08-17-2004, 05:28 PM
So we have to mess around with them, then we cause them to break and buy new boards, well thats what the infinity is like, but its still a decent board, like all mobo's it has its problems.

They just want to piss you off, if they would make things better, maybe they could sell more boards and word would go round that a particular board is excellent, which would generate major intrest...

Hi there guys.....

As asked I came here to help and been helped....

I would like to introduse you the "DDR Maximizer".....

It is a Front Panel in 3.5 bay (adapter to 3.5 > 5.25 can be added by the user) that controls the Vmem(Vdimm) of our DDR and DDR2 modules.....Feeds them with voltage as we wish.....

NOW.........This is the "final release" of the front panel.......Some changes where done so as to "cover" everyone......

http://www.thelab.gr/images/Hipro5/Temp/DDR_Maximizer_Front_Panel _final_png.png

As you can see there have been placed THREE more swiches ON-ON and three DUAL leds.....

The switch between the Led Displays and the dipswitches is for : PUSH ON = DDR2 support - PUSH OFF("on" in real) = DDR support.....

The dual led below it will show the configuration of it......PUSH ON = Red , PUSH OFF = green.......

The other switch below the dipswitches(left one) , is for VTT ON and OFF......For mobos which can track the VTT , should be OFF and for mobos which can't support VTT(ex. ABIT IC7) should be ON......You can leave it to ON with no harm at all even for mobos which can track the VTT.......

The middle dual led is RED when we have PUSHED ON the VTT switch and green when this switch is in OFF......

The right switch (next to trimmer) is for : When ON = dip swiches working - When OFF = Trimmer working.....

Another dual led is placed for indicating that.....When ON = green for dip swiches (aka = safe) and when OFF = red (aka = danger)......

Voltaged via dip switches for DDR are :

2.85 - 2.90 - 2.95 - 3.00 - 3.05 - 3.10 - 3.15 - 3.20 - 3.25 - 3.30 - 3.35 - 3.40 - 3.45 - 3.50 - 3.55 - 3.60

Voltaged via dip switches for DDR2 are :

2.25 - 2.30 - 2.35 - 2.40 - 2.45 - 2.50 - 2.55 - 2.60 - 2.65 - 2.70 - 2.75 - 2.80 - 2.85 - 2.90 - 2.95 - 3.00

Voltaged via trimmer for DDR are maxed out at 4.1Vmem(Vdimm)

Voltaged via trimmer for DDR2 are maxed out at 3.5Vmem(Vdimm)

How it looks???........DON'T ask me to add anything else on it coz it's just "full".......no spare place on the PCB anymore......

Thanks a lot and sorry about my English.....

Awesome design Hipro. This will be a hot seller if this fixes the VTT problem on some boards and even for people without the VTT problem because it allows so many volts. I read all the stuff with OCZ on XS and you have my support. The unit you designed is very different than OCZ's Booster.

Do you have any idea when you will have a working unit ready? I'd love to see some pics when you have one in your hands.

So whats the differeneces between the IC7 & IC7-G ?

Is it just gigabyte lan?

Im going to get one of these boards, probably the IC7 as its cheapest. I know that I would have to do the VTT mod, but I'l have a go

Poo, have you got a IC7? Hows it working out?

Tech

The IC7 non-g has NO onboard lan.

its good, but lacks real good voltage options. you'll need to do vagp mod, vtt mod, vdimm mod for it to be an awesome board

There you go poo. The Hipro5 'DDR Maximizer' in the flesh.

http://www.thelab.gr/images/Hipro5/Multicontroler/jpg/Image24_jpg.jpg

4.22 volts :slobber:

You can get this NO MATTER what PSU you have.......Not maybe 3.8 or 3.9 or 4.0 or 4.1.......STRAIGHT = 4.22Volts..... ;)

cant you just get a blue display? i remember with the water cooling kit (antec case one i believe) you could order one, and solder it on. lots of work for a lil' screen. but it worked.

Yes...I am gonna solder on a screen.
