Every time I put the card back into the AGP slot after having it out of my system for various reasons I get a black screen on the first boot. I can hear windows load but no video. After I reboot the computer the video comes back on and works perfectly until I take it out again. I am always sitting on pins and needles to see if it is still working but it has never failed to come back on after I reboot. It has done that since it was brand new about a year ago. I want to sell it because I got a new 6800NU but I didn't want to list it if that is a sign of an early death.
I was wondering if anyone has experienced this with their 9700 Pro or any other video card for that matter.

Have you overclocked it all? Is the molex connector in all the way? What power supply do you have?

Yeah, I have the plug all the way in and only have had it overclocked slightly but 99% of the time I run it on stock speeds. My power supply is a Thermaltake silent pure power 480W. I have put it in a couple of systems and it does the same thing...Black screen on first boot and works fine after a reboot. I guess it is not really a big deal as long as it comes back on but seems a little strange.

Yeah, 3 monitors in all. The card was made by Powercolor but I don't think that would have anything to do with it. I have heard good and bad things about the company.
I'll just pop it in my daughters computer and leave it to die a natural death.
Thanks for the input guys!

I would RMA it now as well if you can. No sense in wasting a perfectly capable card. My 9700 pro in my "tivo" box doesnt have those kinds of problems and I havent heard of that before...
