I took the bga ramsinks off of my9800 and lost 18mhz. I used to be artifact with 378. Now that the ramsinks are off I have to drop the mem down to 360 to be artifact free.

In most cases ramsinks don't have this much of dramatic of effect. The only thing I can think of is that these were on from day one and maybe the card got used to them. Now that they are off the heat is really effecting my memory OC. :brickwall

either that or you have good case cooling that the ramsinks help dissipate heat

I don't have the sidepanel on. I think it is the sinks just dissipat the heat because there was never any airflow over the whole card.

if u have a fan blowing over the card, your memory shouldnt need ramsinks...the air can just help cool the memory

Doesn't work tried it. The ramsinks really seem to help this card. I don't know why cuz it usually doesn't make a difference but for some reason it makes a big difference with this card
